Booster Tournaments are unrated games for players just learning/ transitioning to tournament style play. First Wednesday of each month will be a Booster Tournament.
Scholastic PlayN’Go: G|25 d5 A scholastic tournament is a chess competition specifically for students, K-12. Players face an opponent from the same grade/age category. Many players bring score sheets to record their moves, so they can review mistakes and strategies later. These tournaments teach discipline, patience, and calculation.
Blitz Games: G|5, G|7, or G|10 A blitz game is chess played at very fast time controls—usually 3 to 5 minutes for each player for the entire game. Players share a clock. That means the clock is ticking, and if your time runs out, you lose—even if you’re winning on the board. It’s about quick pattern recognition, instincts, and not freezing under pressure.
Rapid Marathon: G|10 d2 Rapid chess games give each player 10 minutes for the whole game (with a small increment, like +10 seconds per move). G|10 means that the game control is 10 min (10min per player) and d2 is a 2 second delay.
