One of the most exciting things happening in the world of education and innovation is STEM Fusion—a dynamic approach that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
This method of learning enhances problem-solving skills but also fosters creativity and critical thinking with hands-on projects and experiments.
Last week, our grades 1-3 STEM Fusion students explored surfactants by making soap. Who knew that learning about the scientific method and materials used in a lab could be so much fun? They answered questions about the difference between a beaker and a cup and why a beaker has a spout. They discovered that they could make orange and purple soaps by using the correct combination of red, blue and/or yellow food coloring, and why the small liquid watermelon soap became solid so quickly.
Here at the South Jersey Innovation Center, we continue to encourage collaboration, exploration (and a love of science) with programs like STEM Fusion. Our mission is to foster a generation of thinkers and creators while having fun.
A leading center for STEAM instruction (including math, computing, and robotics), SJIC offers superb instructional STEAM classes for both children and adults. Keep up to date on the website to know what’s happening at SJIC!
