In today’s world, technology is advancing at rapid speeds. It makes sense, then, that there is a growing demand for skilled individuals in the STEAM fields. Of course, being an expert in engineering or coding does not happen overnight; it takes years of dedication. That is why the South Jersey Innovation Center (SJIC) launched its Robotics Summer Camp. The Center wants to introduce young minds to a hobby that may one day become a part of their career. Keep on reading to learn what took place this STEMulating week of camp!
During this immersive week-long camp, participants were given the opportunity to learn the ropes of robotics–specifically through the usage of Lego Mindstorm EV3 robots. With the help of camp instructor Felipe Lafosse, they learned to navigate their robots through mazes, and even have them complete themed missions.
And at the end of the week, there was a final competition using the First Lego League Masterpiece Challenge and Spherobots. Teams were challenged to complete a series of missions within a time constraint while simultaneously being evaluated on their teamwork and completion of the challenge. It was the perfect end to an amazing week of camp!
A leading provider of STEAM enrichment activities, the SJIC offers the following Summer Camps: Robotics, Coding with Scratch, Filmmaking, Chess Camp 1, and Chess Camp 2. Interested in signing up? Register here.
