Grab your popcorn and soda, it’s Filmmaking Week at the South Jersey Innovation Center (SJIC)! This exciting summer camp invites children ages 8 through 14 to become the movie makers–it is the perfect opportunity to show off their ingenuity and stay busy during the summer.
Campers were responsible for directing, acting, and editing their very own short films. None of this could be done, though, without the help of camp instructor Mia Matis who was ready to teach the campers the ins and outs of filmmaking. She took them through the entire storyboarding process, educated them on how to film their videos like a professional, and taught them how to put their masterpieces together through editing. Undoubtedly, the campers’ favorite part of the week was definitely getting to roam around SJIC and film their videos!
Collaboration was key during all of this. The short films would not have been anywhere near as good as they were without the campers working closely with their peers. Alongside collaboration, adaptability played a significant role. Sometimes, things just did not work out as the campers envisioned… and that was okay! These setbacks forced them to innovate and persevere until they saw their projects through. The SJIC is extremely proud of all of the hard work the campers displayed this week.A leading provider of STEAM enrichment activities, the SJIC offers the following Summer Camps: Chess Camp 1 and Chess Camp 2.
