On June 1, 2024, the South Jersey Innovation Center (SJIC) was bursting at the seams with enthusiastic mathematicians checking out the Center’s 10th annual Math Festival!
Everywhere one’s eye turned, there was a fun math-themed activity to try out. Each of the 15 stations – Bears in Parks, Puzzle Pattern Blocks, Mirrors, Various Math 24, Soma Cubes, Fold It Paper Puzzles, Moebius, Function Machine, Origami, Polydron Building, Nikitin Square Puzzles, Bubbles, Mathematical Illusions, and Building Chickpeas and Toothpicks – connected back to math in some way. The children and parents who attended had a ton of fun exploring!
Following the exciting math activities, SJIC held an awards ceremony for the math students. SJIC Math Instructors Tatiana Ter-Saakov and Marcel Bourla wanted to recognize all of the hard work and dedication their students had displayed throughout the year, and an awards ceremony was the perfect way to do so. Congratulations to all the winners!
It did not stop there, though. SJIC surprised the attendees with a guest speaker. He performed various science experiments for the crowd, enjoyed by all. Undoubtedly, everyone’s favorite part of the show was the ice cream made with dry ice at the end.
Thank you to all who attended this event!
A leading center for STEAM instruction (including math, computing, and robotics), SJIC offers superb instructional STEAM classes for both children and adults. Keep up to date on the website to know what’s happening at SJIC!
